A short clip from a media interaction featuring actor Khushi Mukherjee has spiralled into a full-blown controversy after she name-dropped India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav while responding to a question about dating cricketers. The video went viral across platforms, drawing sharp reactions online.
What she said in the viral clip
In the clip, Mukherjee is heard claiming that multiple cricketers had approached her, and that Suryakumar Yadav had messaged her frequently earlier, though they do not speak much now. Reports note the video was posted by a media/entertainment handle and rapidly amplified on social media.
Complaint and ₹100-crore defamation suit
As per Times of India and LiveMint, Mumbai-based influencer Faizan Ansari has filed a ₹100-crore defamation suit and submitted a written complaint at the Ghazipur police station, alleging Mukherjee’s remarks were false and damaged the cricketer’s reputation. He has also said he travelled to Ghazipur and is pursuing registration of an FIR.
Mukherjee’s clarification: “Only friendly”
Mukherjee later issued clarifications in interviews, saying there was no romantic angle, describing any past interaction as casual/friendly, and claiming her remarks were taken out of context. She also alleged her social media account had been compromised amid the fallout.
Where the matter stands
At the time of these reports, the legal action and complaint are being cited through media coverage, while Suryakumar Yadav has not publicly commented on the controversy, according to reporting.
