The Delhi High Court has delivered a major blow to online piracy by ordering the blocking of over 160+ websites illegally streaming copyrighted content from global giants like Warner Bros., Netflix, Disney, Apple, and Crunchyroll. Justice Tejas Karia’s December 18, 2025, order, in response to Warner Bros’ plea, includes a “Dynamic+” injunction to combat the ever-evolving nature of rogue platforms.

The Order Breakdown: Injunction, Blocking, and Future-Proofing

Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., along with co-plaintiffs, argued these sites offered unauthorized access to hits like Friends, Stranger Things, Squid Game, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Jungle Book, and more—causing irreparable financial loss. The court directed domain registrars to suspend infringing sites within 72 hours and ISPs to block access in India. Crucially, the Dynamic+ injunction extends automatically to mirror sites, redirects, or alphanumeric variants, addressing the “hydra-headed” resurgence of piracy domains without repeated court visits.

Plaintiffs’ Case: Ownership and Imminent Threat

The studios, Motion Picture Association members, established prima facie copyright ownership and exclusive distribution rights. Justice Karia noted protection must begin “as soon as works are created,” given the imminent upload risk on new rogue sites.

Broader Impact: Anti-Piracy Milestone

This builds on prior dynamic injunctions, reinforcing India’s stance against digital theft amid rising OTT consumption.

Buzz and Legacy

The ruling trends as a win for creators, highlighting evolving judicial tools against piracy.

A Protective Horizon Awaits

This order isn’t blocked—it’s ignition. As hydra-headed threats emerge, dynamic safeguards protect, and rights endure, it affirms: Copyright vigilance summons justice in digital’s ceaseless charge.
